….experiencing FAITH in the Mercy Tradition
Dear families
Congratulations to a number of Yr 4 students, along with Ella in Yr 3B (in Sacred Heart Parish), who took part and have completed the St Patrick’s Cathedral Sacramental program by receiving First Eucharist last weekend. I wanted to share a little of Fr Michael’s reflection from his own faith journey after receiving the sacraments. I think he describes it perfectly….., “To be able to fully participate in Mass each time, gave me a great sense of a shared journey of faith that we are all on. It gave me a new assurance of God’s presence through prayer and the strength to walk with confidence, especially later when my Grandmother died. I could pray for her and it opened me to an experience of God being near to guide my pathway. We are called to encourage and nurture the spiritual life of our young people, as much as we nurture their health and wellbeing. Faith is an important component and contributor of growth and goes a long way to developing an understanding of our relationship with the world around us, and with God’s help to find the wisdom to make it a better place.” I couldn’t agree more.
Term 2 Awards assembly – Congratulations to those students who were acknowledge for their efforts in showing our Mercy values in Term 2 and Academic progress this semester. You should be very proud of yourselves. Keep up the wonderful effort!

Leading into the school holidays, it is a timely reminder of the importance of safe online behaviours for our students. Generally, when the weather turns cold and we’re indoors, the amount of screen time we access increases (adults included!)
Some resources available include the Daniel Morcombe program and the Real Talk program provided by TCSO. Teachers will be reminding students as to who our Student protection officers are here at St Saviour’s and highlighting the importance of safe behaviours, particularly online. There are a number of parent resources which you can access at home to help support you with these discussions.

A very user friendly resource is the eSafety Guide – Want to know more about the latest apps, games and social media that your child is using? The eSafety Guide includes important advice about their safety features, including how to use the settings to report online abuse and protect personal information.
